U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Friday denied the application for an injunction from upstate New York families seeking online schooling for children whose doctors say they cannot safely receive a full set of vaccines.

The families, who are represented by Sujata Elam Gibson of The Gibson Law Firm, sued the New York State Department of Health, state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker and school district leaders in July 2020, arguing that New York’s rules surrounding vaccinations and school attendance violated their constitutional rights.
