After a four-hour evidentiary hearing on the constitutionality of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s executive order restricting attendance at religious services in parts of the New York City metropolitan area designated as COVID-19 “red zones,” U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis of the Eastern District of New York said he will still need more information before ruling on the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn’s request for a preliminary injunction.

“I don’t want to take comments that are attributed to the governor at a press conference as accurate without some further delineation in a declaration,” he said, setting a deadline of 10 a.m. Friday for the filing, which will allow him to review current COVID-19 rates in the zones.
