New York’s court system has scheduled a public hearing for Sept. 21 to assess the civil legal needs of state residents who have low incomes, according to a notice.

The hearing, which is held annually, will be conducted by Chief Judge Janet DiFiore and is set to start at 1 p.m. Sept. 21. The notice of the hearing says this year the event will focus on the importance of “publicly funded civil legal services in confronting the civil justice crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
