A Garden City divorce lawyer will continue to face legal malpractice claims in a somewhat bizarre case lodged by an ex-client who says that her soon-to-be-ex-husband handpicked the lawyer and arranged to pay his fees, then pressured her to retain the attorney in their divorce, according to a state appeals court ruling and underlying records.

Allan Botter, a matrimonial lawyer who, according to multiple websites, has been licensed to practice law for 61 years, must continue to face the legal malpractice portion of a lawsuit launched in 2011 by ex-client Lisa Blumencranz, an Appellate Division, Second Department panel has decided.
