An ex-Manhattan assistant district attorney has been suspended for two months from practicing law after being convicted of assaulting a woman inside a bar, stemming from a 2015 fight in which he allegedly tackled the woman, grabbed her neck and struck her in the face as a verbal altercation over a jacket turned physical.

Lawyer Eli Karl Cherkasky, who today works at the international risk management firm Exiger, according to court records, has been suspended for two months by the Appellate Division, First Department despite a court-appointed referee recommending only a private sanction as his punishment.
