Attorneys general from New York and 17 other states have sued the Trump administration over a new Labor Department regulation that they said would expose low- and middle-income workers to wage left and other labor law violations.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court, targets a new rule that seeks to narrow the Fair Labor Standards Act’s definition of “joint employer,” which is used to determine when firms can share legal liability for paying workers minimum wage and overtime.
