The lawyers who successfully defended the creators of a play that used Abbott and Costello’s famous “Who’s on First” gag from copyright infringement claims are one step away from a $50,000 court-ordered payday.

For their home-run defense of the producers of the Tony Award-nominated play “Hand to God” in TCA Television v. McCollum, (15 C.V. 4325), Southern District Magistrate Judge James Francis IV has granted the defendants’ motion for fees for solo attorney Mark J. Lawless and lawyers from the firm of Levine Plotkin & Menin.
