Much Shelist’s strategy is to attract dissatisfied Big Law lawyers seeking a haven to practice sophisticated law in a collegial culture that values client service. Last year, the firm’s approach proved its worth: Much Shelist recruited six lateral lawyers who brought substantial expertise and clients in five of the firm’s key practices.

What attracted them was the congenial atmosphere and professionalism of the now 86-member firm, where collaboration is prized and values shared, managing partner Mitchell Roth said. The firm regularly makes the Chicago Tribune’s list of the city’s best places to work.
