Founded in 1926 by Belgian Jos­eph Draps, New York-based Godiva Chocolatier Inc. employs 15,000 people worldwide who make and sell chocolate confections and ice cream.

The company manufactures choc­olates at a site near Reading, Pa., and in Brussels, and has offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, London and Tokyo. The Campbell Soup Co. bought Godiva in 1967 and sold it 40 years later to Yildiz Holding A.S. of Turkey for $850 million. Yildiz is expanding the business into Asia and the Middle East. The company does not disclose sales figures.
