Macy’s Inc. has pleaded no contest to causing the death of an employee in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County, Calif., district attorney’s office.

On Monday, the Cincinnati-based retailer entered the plea to corporate criminal liability, a misdemeanor, in the death of Roy Polanco, 65, who on July 13, 2009, fell into an opening of a cardboard baling and compacting machine at a Macy’s distribution center, prosecutors said.
