Morrison & Foerster: Howard Morris joins the firm as head of the firm’s business restructuring and insolvency group in the London office and will focus on banking and finance matters, and asset tracing and recovery. Morris was a partner at Dentons.
Reed Smith: Bryan Brown and Marlen Whitley join the firm’s global capital-markets team as partners in the Houston office. Brown will focus on global capital-markets transactions and Whitley will focus on corporate and securities transactions. Brown and Whitley were partners at Thompson & Knight.
Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr: Jason Kipnis joins the firm’s intellectual property department as partner in the Palo Alto office and will focus on litigation, enforcement and dispute counseling. Previously, Kipnis was a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
Winston & Strawn (Chicago): Jared Hershberg joins the firm’s corporate ­practice as partner in the New York office and will focus on private-equity investments, private-investment funds, and mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Hershberg was a partner at Morrison Cohen.
Bernstein Shur (Portland, Maine): Patricia French joins the firm’s energy and environmental law practice group as partner in the Portland, Maine, office and will focus on the energy sector. Previously, French was chief compliance officer and a division counsel at NiSource Inc.
Conrad O’Brien (Philadelphia): Christo­pher Carusone joins the firm’s white-collar defense team as partner and will focus on government-related litigation, and criminal and civil enforcement proceedings. Previously, Carusone served as secretary of legislative affairs for Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett.
Pryor Cashman (New York): Jeffrey Alberts joins the firm’s white-collar defense and investigations practice as partner and chairman in the New York office and will focus on government investigations and prosecutions, victims’ rights and complex civil litigation. Previously, Alberts served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr: Quentin Palfrey joins the firm’s intellectual property litigation practice as special counsel to the Boston office and will focus on intellectual property litigation matters. Previously, Palfrey was senior adviser for jobs and competitiveness in the White House office of science and technology policy.
