Hiscock & Barclay (Syracuse, N.Y.): John Cherundolo joins the firm’s torts and products liability practice as of counsel and will focus on tort and commercial litigation. Previously, Cherundolo served as a trial judge on the Onon­daga County, N.Y., Supreme Court.

 

 

Mayer Brown: Michael Martinez joins the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practice and white-collar defense and compliance group as partner in the New York office and will focus on litigation mat­ters, including financial services and health care. Previously, Martinez was the executive assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Jersey.

Barnes & Thornburg (Indianapolis): Alex Calfo joins the firm’s litigation department as partner in the Los Angeles office and will focus on products liability matters and complex business and insurance coverage cases. Previously, Calfo was name partner at Yukevich Calfo & Cavanaugh.

Burr & Forman (Birmingham, Ala.): Wilson Eaton III joins the firm’s labor and employment practice as partner in the Mobile, Ala., office and will focus on representing managements in labor law matters. Previously, Eaton was a partner at Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada.

Cooley (Palo Alto, Calif.): Matthew Karlyn joins the firm’s technology transaction practice as partner in the Boston office and will focus on outsourcing and information technology. Previously, Karlyn was a partner at Foley & Lardner.

Cozen O’Connor (Philadelphia): Martin Schrier joins the firm as partner in the Miami office and will focus on transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and leverage buyouts. Previously, Schrier was a partner at K&L Gates.

DLA Piper: Cedric Chao joins the firm’s litigation practice as partner in the San Francisco office and will focus on litigation and international arbitration matters. Previously, Chao was a partner at Morrison & Foerster.

Herrick, Feinstein (New York): Louis Tuchman joins the firm as partner and co-chairman of the tax and personal planning group and will focus on cross-border taxation issues, joint ventures and real estate. Previously, Tuchman was a partner at Kaye Scholer.

Jones Day: Fred Alvarez joins the firm’s labor and employment practice as partner in the Palo Alto, Calif., office and will focus on compliance and internal investigations. Previously, Alvarez was a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Additionally, Karim Mahmud joins the firm’s projects and infrastructure practice as partner in the London office and will focus on energy projects and development. Previously, Mahmud was a partner at Blake, Cassels and Graydon.

Littler Mendelson (San Francisco): Jeffrey Mintz joins the firm as partner in the Atlanta office and will focus on labor/management relations and human resources issues. Previously, Mintz was a partner at Jackson Lewis.

Pepper Hamilton (Philadelphia): Alan Kessel joins the firm’s commercial litigation practice group as partner in the Irvine, Calif., office and will focus on litigation and trial work in a variety of industries. Previously, Kessel was a partner at Baker & Hostetler.

Perkins Coie (Seattle): Lowell Ness joins the firm’s emerging-companies practice as partner in the Palo Alto, Calif., office and will focus on venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and private placements. Previously, Ness was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Additionally, Michael Henson joins the firm’s intellectual property practice as partner in the Denver office and will focus on patent and trademark prosecution and litigation. Previously, Henson was a partner at Holland & Hart.
