A California State Bar Court Judge on Wednesday recommended that John Eastman be disbarred, concluding the former dean of Chapman University’s law school championed lies about the 2020 presidential election and “conspired” with former President Donald Trump to overturn the results.

In a sweeping 128-page ruling, Judge Yvette Roland found Eastman culpable of 10 of the 11 professional misconduct charges filed against him by the bar’s Office of Chief Trial Counsel in January 2023. Eastman “advanced the false narrative” that Vice President Mike Pence could stop the electoral vote count that would make Joe Biden president, Roland wrote.
