Former President Donald Trump “betrayed” an oath to the Constitution when he unleashed a mob on the U.S. Capitol to stop the 2020 election certification, a group of Colorado voters told the U.S. Supreme Court Friday in an effort to bar his return to power.

The voters are defending a Colorado Supreme Court decision disqualifying Trump from office over his role in the events of Jan. 6, 2021. The state high court found Trump had “engaged in insurrection” and is therefore barred from the presidency under Section 3 of the Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment.
