Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, has asked the U.S. Courts’ rulemaking body to address judge shopping and single-judge divisions that allow for such abuse. And if they don’t find a fix, he’s willing to bring the issue before Congress.

“Based on geography, some plaintiffs are able to guarantee that their claims will be heard before a specific judge, whereas others are left to chance,” Schumer said about a letter, co-signed by 16 other Democratic senators, to the Judicial Conference sent last week. “Forum shopping is a serious problem that will only worsen Americans’ crisis of faith in the judiciary.”
