A lawsuit brought by the Federal Trade Commission resulted in a $500,000 settlement and a lifetime ban for operators of an alleged telemarketing scam who attempted to sell “extended automobile warranties” to consumers nationwide.

Some of the defendants who operated the American Vehicle Protection business agreed to no longer conduct the outbound telemarketing operation and its extended automobile warranty sales, the FTC stated Thursday. The defendants included the Kole Consulting Group and owner Daniel Kole.
