In a blow to clinics, the Texas Supreme Court on Friday said state officials do not enforce a six-week abortion ban known as S.B. 8.
The abortion providers challenging the law argued the state’s licensing officials could indirectly enforce the law by sanctioning physicians who violate it, but the justices disagreed. The Texas court’s ruling means the state officials cannot be sued in the case.
