U.S. Circuit Judge Susan L. Carney, a Democratic appointee of former President Barack Obama, is taking senior status, the clerk of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit confirmed on Friday.

Carney, who has sat on the Manhattan-based appeals court since 2011, made her announcement in a letter to the White House late this week, Clerk Catherine O’Hagan Wolfe told the New York Law Journal.
