Here’s what U.S. District Senior Judge Marsha Pechman, who has overseen four remote jury trials in the past year, has to say to all you Zoom trial haters out there.

“Most of the people who object or are writing pieces about objecting have actually not done it or have not watched it or have not taken the time to be a creative thinker about it,” said Pechman toward the end of a panel discussion presented Tuesday evening by the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society and the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington, the judge’s home district. Pechman said that the crisis created by the pandemic has actually created an opportunity to make some things about the federal judiciary work better.
