While a finalized Privacy Shield Text will not be approved for months, on Feb. 29, the Department of Commerce released a tranche of Privacy Shield documents, including an “EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Principles” text that sets down an agreed upon framework for the new agreement.
The documents also include a set of letters that are “signed by three different cabinet secretaries and the head of the Federal Trade Commission, so it’s obviously a set of commitments, a set of materials that we have taken very seriously,” said Ted Dean, assistant secretary for services at the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, in a previous discussion on the agreement.
