It may not surprise you that Hacking Team, an Italy-based company that licenses surveillance and intrusion software to foreign governments, was involved in a hack on July 5. It may surprise you, though, which side of the hack the company was on.
Attackers have published a torrent of 400 GB containing confidential Hacking Team information, including internal documents, source code and personal emails. The attackers, who have not yet been identified, also took over Hacking Team’s Twitter account, using it to publish the confidential data.
