Las Vegas Sands Corp. is making a bet the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada will side with them over claims of trademark infringement, false designation of origin, trademark dilution and unfair competition, with respect to their online brand, according to associate Michael Palmisciano of Sullivan & Worcester, in this recent post on the Trending Trademarks blog.

The claim stems from 35 domain names, which the Casino company alleges are using the Sands trademark without permission. “Sands alleged that the defendants operate “a network” of Chinese-language websites that direct users to overseas online casinos not affiliated with or licensed by Sands,” explained Palmisciano. The domain names have all been registered using concealed identities, through popular registrars such as GoDaddy.com, he said.
