The number of civil cases filed in the U.S. district courts declined by 8% last year. And yet, a recent report found that there was a 10% increase in the number of e-discovery decisions issued in 2023—5,216 in total.

According to eDiscovery Assistant 2023 Case Law Report, which was released on Feb. 28, last year saw the largest number of e-discovery decisions since the pandemic, when discovery disputes heard over Zoom increased the number of decisions by 20%.
