Earlier this month, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that artificial intelligence cannot be named an inventor under the Patent Act.
The judge presiding over the panel, Judge Leonard Stark, wrote that as per the plain language of the act, a patent inventor is required to be an individual, unlike an AI system.
