As conversations around data privacy rights enter the mainstream, it’s likely there’ll be more demands from consumers to acquire their own data from companies. Much of this is expected to show up in the form of increased data subject access requests, or DSARs, which have already become more prevalent

They soon may become even more widespread. On Jan. 1, 2023, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) is expected to go into effect, setting up a potentially complicated interplay between employment rights and data privacy law.
