Digital-based resources are increasingly becoming the norm in legal research. But one electronic platform currently not gaining much traction is e-books and, for law librarians, its future is unclear. The challenge e-books face is obvious: E-book publishers will need to improve their features to maintain its market share.

According to one recent survey, e-books aren’t a must-have for most attorneys. Out of the 430 lawyers surveyed for the 2021 American Bar Association’s “Legal Technology Survey Report,” 35% reported never using e-books for research. Just 8% of respondents said they used e-books regularly, and 28% reported occasionally using that resource.
