The latest Section 230 reform proposal would more than triple the number of statutory exceptions to the law that helps shield online platforms from liability for user-generated content.

On Feb. 5, Sens. Mark Warner, D-Virginia; Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii; and Amy Klobuchar D-Minnesota, announced the Safeguarding Against Fraud, Exploitation, Threats, Extremism and Consumer Harms, or SAFE TECH Act. The bill would rewrite Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which was signed into law 25 years ago this week.
