Foreign Affairs Committee report into piracy off Somalia welcomed by shipping industry, reports Stephen Askins

On 5 January, the UK Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC) published a report into piracy off Somalia, with its conclusions reflecting wide-ranging international and commercial issues. While it remains to be seen how the UK Government will respond, it has already agreed to allow armed guards on UK-flagged vessels and issued guidelines on the certification process that maritime security companies must follow.
