The Indian market has been a page turner for investors and legal players over the past few years. Just as the market tapered from a bombastic couple of years prior, the Bar Council of India (BCI) announced the liberalization of its legal market, fulfilling the longstanding demands by foreign law firms to be able to set up offices on the ground in India.

Baker McKenzie has already built a business case for launching an outfit in India, according to the firm’s head of India practice and Asia Pacific head of its international capital markets practice, Ashok Lalwani.
