"It's something that other professional creditors have done some time ago. And I believe that the American Bar Association is an outlier here, and I am particularly attracted by your argument that this creates an opportunity for some to reduce the cost of legal education and may enable some rural areas without access for law schools to enter the profession to serve our underserved areas."

    "The funds [$5 million for the law school], which are split between current use and endowment, will support the operation of our 12 clinics, which provide hands-on learning to students while helping to serve the unmet legal needs of North Carolinians," a Duke Law spokesperson said. "About 60% of students enroll in at least one clinic or externship during their three years at Duke Law In practice areas including health law, entrepreneurship, wrongful convictions and immigration."

    GGU Law Sunsetting Its JD Program at End of '23-'24 Academic Year

    "We know—and regret—the pain and disruption that will come from ending the ABA-accredited JD program," Barbara Mendelson, chair of the Board of Trustees and David J. Fike, president, wrote in a letter to the GGU community Thursday. "Given the realities of the marketplace, our Law School's place in it and a host of related trends and data, we determined it is no longer viable to offer this degree program."
