Massive real estate deals must seen mundane for Jonathan Mechanic — he’s handled so many of them.

Recent examples include Tishman Speyer’s $1 billion bid for the development rights to the West Side rail yards in New York. Then there was the biggest real estate deal of all time — Tishman’s $5.4 billion purchase of New York’s Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village housing complexes (never mind that the deal ended in tears — Tishman and its partners defaulted after the courts quashed their plans to convert rent-controlled apartments into market-rate ones).
