Chicago-based Am Law 200 firm Vedder Price has expanded its Singapore office by adding a second partner.

Bill Gibson joins from Dentons, where he was a partner in London. Gibson, who arrived at Vedder Price’s London office in June before moving to Singapore this month, advises on leasing and financing transactions of commercial and corporate aircraft. He has also represented financiers and train operating companies on the financing and leasing of rolling stock.

Gibson had been a partner with Dentons and its legacy firm SNR Denton since 2011, having first joined the firm in 2006.

Gibson is the second partner at Vedder Price’s new Singapore office, which opened only a year ago. Shareholder Ji Woon Kim relocated from New York last August to launch the office —the firm’s only base in Asia and its second, after London, outside the United States.

The 300-lawyer firm now has four lawyers in Singapore. In addition to Kim and Gibson, solicitor Lev Gantly, who relocated from London last year for the office opening, and associate Cheryl Seah, who joined in July from Singaporean firm TSMP Law Corp., also are based in Vedder’s Singapore office.
