Litigation funder Vannin Capital has hired a managing director in Sydney from a rival funder.

Steven Taylor joins Vannin from Sydney-based Litigation Lending Services, where he was a litigation manager, reviewing funding applications and negotiating funding agreements.

Before joining Litigation Lending Services in 2017, Taylor practiced at Squire Patton Boggs for two years as a senior associate, advising on corporate and commercial litigation matters. Previously, he practiced at Australian firm Piper Alderman from 2010 to 2015.

Taylor is the fifth managing director-level hire in Australia by Vannin since entering the market in 2015 with an office in Sydney; the funder opened its second Australia office in Melbourne the following year. Most recently, Adam Silverman joined Vannin in 2017, first as an investment director and then as managing director since the beginning of 2018, after six years as a foreign registered lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Hong Kong.

Elsewhere, Vannin recruited former Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner international arbitration partner Ania Farren in London and former Bloomberg Law president Scott Mozarsky in New York, as managing director and regional managing director, respectively, both in August last year.

In October, Vannin withdrew its proposed $90 million listing on the London Stock Exchange, citing volatile market conditions.
