Pinsent Masons has hired Rosita Chu as a corporate partner in Hong Kong from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
Chu advises on equity capital markets deals and mergers and acquisitions. She specializes in the technology, media, and telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing and renewable energy sectors.
She joins Pinsent Masons after less than two years at Luk & Partners, Morgan Lewis’ Hong Kong associate firm. She was one of four of counsel from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe to join Luk & Partners as partners in February last year. Luk & Partners was launched a month earlier by seven former Orrick Hong Kong partners, led by former global head of capital markets Edwin Luk.
Chu is the first partner Pinsent Masons hired in Hong Kong since 2011, when Kenneth Chong joined from local firm ONC Lawyers as the English firm made its bid into the competitive Hong Kong listings space. During the same period of time, the firm promoted three Hong Kong attorneys to partner in the technology, media, and telecommunications, infrastructure and construction practices.
Pinsent Masons now has 11 partners in Hong Kong, mostly focusing on construction. In additon to Chu and Chong, Dale Fischer is also a Hong Kong-based corporate partner.
