Goldman Sachs’ legal division stretches across 14 offices located around the globe. Sullivan & Cromwell, which nominated Goldman for this award, worked closely with Goldman’s legal team in obtaining a dismissal with prejudice of an investor lawsuit claiming that Goldman overpaid its board by $2 billion in the run-up to the financial crisis. Goldman’s legal team worked around the clock, offering insights and suggesting approaches that might otherwise have gone unexplored. The collaboration of Goldman’s legal team on this matter was invaluable in obtaining a favorable resolution.
S&C attorneys have also closely collaborated with Goldman Sachs’ legal department in a series of litigations and arbitrations brought by issuers of auction rate securities. Together, they have obtained victories in the Second Circuit, Ninth Circuit, Southern District of New York, and District of New Mexico.
