TL: What was the biggest compliance challenge your department dealt with in 2016?

Weatherford International: Challenges are many for oil field service lawyers and compliance professionals as we remain in a down market with an ever increasing and evolving set of regulatory requirements globally. In 2016, we viewed our biggest compliance challenge as maintaining a motivated workforce to do things the right way the first time when all are being asked to do the job of many and revenue-generating opportunities and internal resources are fewer than ever. To do this we redoubled efforts to strengthen our enterprise culture. We recommitted ourselves to our client-first service quality mantra, working in total partnership with our business, doing everything possible to make the right choices clear through the provision of top legal and compliance talent, streamlined process supported by technology and clear and topical training messages to enable us to work as One Weatherford.
