Fox Corp., Rupert Murdoch and other defendants were hit with a shareholder derivative lawsuit on Sept. 12 in Delaware Court of Chancery. The complaint, which is not publicly available, is part of a string of cases launched after Fox settled defamation claims brought by Dominion and Smartmatic over the 2020 presidential election. Shareholders allege that while Fox knew the narrative of election fraud was false, it promoted the narrative anyway in order to maintain the network’s ratings. The suit was filed by Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, Friedlander & Gorris and the Oregon Department of Justice. The case is 2023-0931-, New York City Employees’ Retirement System et al. v. Murdoch et al.
