The federal and state government have filed suit in an attempt to hold corporations that dumped hazardous waste into a Delaware landfill financially responsible for its cleanup.

While there’s currently no set price tag or timeline on what might need to be done at the Newark quarry turned landfill, the District of Delaware complaint cites the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, commonly known as Superfund, as reason for companies that produced or transported waste that ended up in the landfill to foot the bill.
