Case filings in the Delaware Court of Chancery have been up over recent years’ numbers as COVID-19-related litigation has been added to the court’s usual docket.

According to Laura Hopkins, a legal data expert for Lex Machina, June and July were the first months since at least the end of 2016 that more than 101 cases were filed with the Court of Chancery over the course of a month, peaking at 125. That number dropped down to 96 new filings in August but was back up to 100 in September; by comparison, 93 cases were filed in September 2019.
