The six-man committee advising Georgia’s U.S. senators on nominations for three open federal judgeships in Georgia has begun interviewing candidates for two open seats in the state’s Northern District, including one that did not open up until Dec. 27—one day before the committee’s application deadline.

The advisory committee—which includes three members appointed by Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, and three appointed by Sen. David Perdue, R-Georgia—also will begin taking applications within a matter of days for a third open seat on the federal bench, in the Middle District in Macon, said Joshua Belinfante, a partner at Robbins Ross Alloy Belinfante Littlefield and one of Perdue’s three appointees. The deadline for the Middle District applications is Feb. 6.
