When Cobb County political activist Amy Barnes chanted “Fuck the police” as she bicycled past two officers who were questioning a man in the parking lot of a local convenience store, the officers pursued her, arrested her and charged her with disorderly conduct.

More than two years later, Cobb County has agreed to pay Barnes $100,000 to settle a free speech suit she brought in federal court after the charges against her were finally dismissed, said Gerald Weber, one of Barnes’ two attorneys.
