On Tuesday the Georgia Court of Appeals is set to be asked if Georgia courts can override decisions made by the Georgia Board of Regents, the governing body for Georgia public universities.
The dispute poses several questions to the intermediate court, namely: Can a superior court exercise jurisdiction over the University System of Georgia, or USG, students? And, did the Superior Court of Athens-Clarke County violate the Board of Regents’ sovereign immunity by doing so?
