A group of engineers from Mexico filed a federal complaint this week alleging they were defrauded in a “bait-and-switch” scheme by an auto parts supplier to use their professional skillsets for cheap labor.

In a class action lawsuit filed March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Sewon America was accused of luring Mexican technicians into what they believed were professional-level positions that would qualify for the “Trade NAFTA” or “TN” visa program for nonimmigrants, but instead were offered manual labor jobs with “discriminatory pay” and unsafe conditions.
