The Georgia Supreme Court will gather to honor retired Justice Carol Hunstein with a portrait ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Nathan Deal Judicial Center, Chief Justice David Nahmias announced Monday.

Hunstein retired at the end of her term in 2018, leaving her seat open in that year’s election as she approached the mandatory retirement age of 75. Justice John Ellington, previously a judge on the Georgia Court of Appeals, won the election to succeed her. She told the Daily Report at the time she was surprised that no woman qualified to run for the job.
