Attorneys who knew the late Judge Stephen S. Goss have funded a scholarship in his memory at the University of Georgia School of Law.

Goss was a beloved judge who launched a powerful mental health treatment court movement but later took his own life. He served on the bench for more than 20 years, mostly as a trial judge in the South Georgia city of Albany, where he hosted visitors from around the state and the country who came to watch and learn about the accountability court he started and presided over that helped people suffering from addictions and mental health challenges avoid prison and regain their lives.
