Byung J. “BJay” Pak, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, told his staff Monday he was resigning his post, effective immediately.

Pak, 46, has served since his confirmation by the U.S. Senate in 2017, appointed by President Donald Trump. He had previously told his staff he would be leaving upon the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden Jan. 20. But the news he was leaving now came as a surprise, according to a spokesman for the office who did not know yet where Pak will be practicing law next.
