A lawyer for a man on death row for a double murder more than a decade ago told the state Supreme Court on Thursday that his client should get a new trial based on blood evidence tested after his conviction and a claim that a relative of the victims confessed to the crimes.

Lindsey Boney, a lawyer for Clemente Aguirre-Jarquin, said his client is innocent and should be retried. Aguirre was convicted of murdering Cheryl Williams and her mother, Carol Bareis, in Seminole County in 2004.
