The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission filed ethics charges against Broward Circuit Judge John Patrick Contini after he sent email offering advice to an assistant public defender appearing before him.

Contini’s lawyer, Fort Lauderdale attorney Bruce Rogow, described him as a mensch—a Yiddish word for an honorable person—whose momentary conduct did not deserve severe sanctions.
