Ten South Florida judges are among 18 applicants for the vacancy created by the retirement of Fourth District Court of Appeal Judge Mark Polen.
The Fourth District Judicial Nominating Commission released the list Monday.
From Palm Beach County, the applicants include Chief Judge Peter D. Blanc, Circuit Judges Jack Schramm Cox, Janis Brustares Keyser and Krista Marx, and County Judge Robert G. Panse.
From Broward County, Circuit Judges John J. Murphy III and Carol-Lisa Phillips applied.
Submissions from the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit came from Circuit Judges Robert E. Belanger and Mark W. Klingensmith in St. Lucie County, and from Circuit Judge Elizabeth Ann Metzger in Okeechobee County.
Three prosecutors applied, including Miami-Dade assistant state attorney Abbe S. Rifkin, who is senior trial counsel. Also applying are Sylvia Wenger of the U.S. District Court in West Palm Beach and Richard C. Valuntas of the Attorney General’s Office in West Palm Beach.
Private practice attorneys in the running include appellate and commercial attorney Manuel Farach, who is of counsel with Richman Greer in West Palm Beach; Ann M. St. Peter-Griffith, a former federal prosecutor and now a partner at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman in Miami; Jill Forman, with the West Palm Beach firm of Pallo, Marks, Hernandez, Gechijian & DeMay; and solo practitioners Donna Greenspan Solomon of Solomon Appeals, Mediation & Arbitration in Fort Lauderdale, and family law attorney Peggy Rowe-Linn of Peggy Rowe-Linn P.A. in West Palm Beach.
The applicants will be interviewed May 2 at the Fourth District.
