In his annual state of the judiciary speech, Charles Canady, chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court, reported Thursday that court funding is vastly improved from last year’s dire straits under a legislative restructuring.

“I’m delighted to give you a better report than last year,” Canady said at The Florida Bar annual conference in Orlando. “Last year, things were quite different. I was in the position of having to ask for a loan to fund the courts.”
